South Africa Women defied history in the 1st ODI against New Zealand women registering their first win ever on Kiwi soil.
It was a clinical show from the visitors as they chased down the big score easily. For New Zealand Women it was a big blow with their bowlers failing to cause trouble to the opponents. They will need to recover from this and win the next game to level the series.
The fact that South Africa Women have got the monkey off their back by registering a win here would do a world of good to their confidence. They played with determination in the game and shall be looking to carry on with the same show. New Zealand Women got their bowling plans wrong in the last game and have to make amends to save the series in what promises to be a very interesting game.

Sophie Devine would be upset with the loss in the last game. They wasted the platform laid down by the openers to fall short by at least 20 runs and their bowlers were all over the place. With the pressure of having to defend the series, Devine would want her girls to go into the next game with a positive frame of mind.
Lauren Down and Bernadine Bezuidenhout will need to provide a good start in the game. Lauren who played poorly in the last game needs to do well. Suzie Bates, Devine, Katie Perkins, and Rachel Priest look in excellent form. They will look to set up a big score on the board and the lower order needs to come up with good contributions.
The bowling attack was short on a good attack plan in the last game and was wayward with their line. Rosemary Mair did well and shall have to pick wickets with the new ball along with Holly Huddleston. Devine, Hayley Jensen, and Amelia Kerr need to get wickets and the mere containing job they did in the last game isn’t going to help against the strong batting line-up their opponents have.

Dane van Niekerk’s new innings as the captain started with a big win. She will look at her team to repeat the same magic in the next game. Bowling is one area that the side will look to improve. With a series win in the taking Niekerk will want her players to put their best foot forward in the upcoming encounter.
Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee are looking in great form opening the batting and would like to carry their form. Dane van Niekerk batted well in the last game and so did Suné Luus. Mignon du Preez, Marizanne Kapp, Chloe Tryon and Trisha Chetty make the lower middle order very strong and they will look to make contributions in the next game.
Shabnim Ismail had a good show with the new ball and was well supported by Masabata Klaas and Ayabonga Khaka. These three bowlers will look to repeat the same show in the 2nd ODI. With Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk and Suné Luus in the bowling mix they have a very good attack going into this game.

The skies would be clear over Auckland on January 27th but the conditions would be windy which would make the ball swing a bit. Batting is expected to be easy as we had seen in the last game here. The side batting first will aim at a score of around 270 runs to feel comfortable on this wicket.
Eden Park Outer Oval is a good wicket and offers good assistance to the fast bowlers. With the ball coming on to the bat nicely batters can also play their strokes. The shorter boundaries are a big bonus for the batters. Slower bowlers tend to do well on this surface as the ball gets older.
There is an early bargain from the surface as we had seen in the last game. The pitch doesn’t change much in character in the second innings. The side winning the toss would most likely opt to bowl first and use the early morning conditions to good effect.
The start of the series has been good and it was an entertaining contest in the first game. While the South African side won it comfortably, in the end, New Zealand Women weren’t outplayed completely. Runs were scored by both sides. It is expected to be a very close game but South Africa Women by virtue of winning the first game would start slightly ahead of their opponents.
