The 2nd season of Mzansi Super League is underway in South Africa. Mzansi Super League is a premier T20 cricket tournament in South Africa that had its inaugural season last year.
In this season's opening encounter, Cape Town Blitz beat the defending champions Jozi Stars in a high scoring encounter on 8th November at Wanderers. Janneman Malan’s explosive innings was too much for the Stars as Blitz took the game home by 15 runs defending 213. The Blitz will play their second game on the 10th of November at Paarl against the Rocks.
Paarl Rocks were the third-best team in last year’s MSL but the abandoned eliminator crushed their hopes of playing in the final. They will begin this year’s campaign at home against last year's finalists. They have already defeated Blitz once last year and must be keen on repeating it to kick start the season.

Paarl Rocks, under the captaincy of Faf du Plessis, must have felt hard done by in the last season. After barely making it into the top 3 at the end of league stage their eliminator with Jozi Stars was abandoned and the Stars went to the finals based on points. Paarl Rocks are set for a duel against Cape Town Blitz at home.
Last year, the Rocks won 3 out of 5 home games. The Rocks had defeated Cape Town Blitz in their first head-to-head encounter at home in MSL 2018 thanks to Fortuin’s 4-for and a measured half-century by captain Faf du Plessis. However, in the second league game, the Blitz turned the table with a comfortable win on the back of 93 by Quinton de Kock. There have been a couple of set-backs for the Rocks even before their first game as Aiden Markram and hamstrung JP Duminy has been ruled out of MSL 2019. In their absence, the batting relies on captain Faf du Plessis, Davids whereas Paterson and Shamsi are their key bowlers. Key Players: Faf du Plessis, Henry Davids, Tabraiz Shamsi
Sibonelo Makhanya, Faf du Plessis, Henry Davids, Tabraiz Shamsi, Mangaliso Mosehle, Ferisco Adams, Cameron Delport, Isuru Udana, Hardus Viljoen, Bjorn Fortuin, Dwaine Pretorius
Last year finalist Cape Town Blitz started the season in a grand fashion against the defending champions Jozi Stars. They posted the first 200+ score of the tournament in the first game itself. The fact that the victory came in an away game must have boosted their confidence even more. They are set to play another away game against Paarl Rocks. Losing the toss batting first against the Stars, Malan and de Kock did not take long to get going. They put on 72 in 7th over when de Kock got out. Malan, however, kept going at one end and got Blitz to 213 for 3 with eventually staying not out in the end.
All batsmen got a good outing and scored at a strike rate of about 150 or above. Malan scored 99 that included 11 fours and 4 towering Sixes. Despite Reeza Hendricks keeping Jozi Stars in the hunt for long, Dale Steyn’s 3 wicket haul proved fatal and the Stars fell 15 runs short in the end. The Blitz has started the season with a win and it looks like Quinton de Kock has the team to continue the winning run. Key Players: Quinton de Kock, Janneman Malan, Dale Steyn
Vernon Philander, SSB Magala, Anrich Nortje, Moeen Ali, Quinton de Kock, Liam Livingstone, DW Steyn, George Linde, Mohammad Nawaz, Janneman Malan, Aviwe Mgijima
On the match day, the weather is forecasted to be perfect for playing the game of cricket. It is going to please with cloud and sun. There might be some assistance to the seamers early on. The daytime temperature is going to reach around 28°c and down to about 14°c at night.
The venue for this match is Boland Park, Paarl. This is home ground for Paarl Rocks. This is a domestic venue in South Africa.
The surface at Boland Park is a good one for batting with some assistance to seamers in the early stages of the match. 200 was crossed trice in the last season and there were some low scores as well. The team winning the toss should look to Bowl first here in case there are any surprises.
Despite playing at home the Rocks seem to be the underdogs going into their opening game of the season against mighty Cape Town Blitz. Absence of Markram and Duminy would hurt the Rocks even more. Du Plessis has his task cut out. Blitz, on the other hand, have a strong batting line up and balanced bowling attack. We predict defending Cape Town Blitz to win their second game in a row.
Cape Town Blitz will win the match!
