The 24th game of the MSL 2019 will be played between Paarl Rocks and Durban Heat at Boland Park in Paarl on Sunday. The first meeting between both the team was ended in a washout.
The home side, Paarl Rocks, has delivered some impressive performances to garner 23 points on the table. They are currently at the first spot in the points table. The Faf du Plessis-led side has registered five wins from eight matches so far. However, they can’t put a foot wrong at the moment as they would need a win to secure the top place in the point table and play the final directly.
James Vince and T Shamsi are the pick of the bowlers and batsmen respectively for Rocks in the ongoing tournament. While the home side would want to carry forward the winning momentum, they shouldn’t get over complacent after that fabulous victories and must put in their best efforts in the crucial game.
On the other hand, Durban Heat has emerged as one of the underperforming teams of the MSL 2019. The Dane Vilas-led side registered their second win of the tournament against Giants on Saturday. Durban has amassed 14 points and are poised fifth in the table with just two wins. Amongst the seven matches which Durban have played, three have been abandoned, adding to their woes.
However, the side would take confidence from their last two consecutive victories. Now, including this one they have three games to play and to stay in contention for the playoffs, every game would be the knockout for the Durban’s. The side would be hoping to carry on the good form and win the third game of the MSL 2019.

Paarl Rocks have delivered some impressive performances in the ongoing tournament and will look to continue their winning momentum when they lock horns with the Durban Heat. Rocks batting force will be steered by James Vince, Cameron Delport and skipper Du Plessis. James Vince (192 runs at 38.40), Henry Davids (153 runs at 21.85) have been the cornerstone of their batting unit thus far and will once again be the key to their fortunes.
However, the form of skipper Faf du Plessis is a major concern. He failed to convert the starts into a big one. He scored in total below 100 runs from earlier games this season. He is the vital cog in the Rocks batting line-up and his good form is very important for the Parl Rocks in the tournament. When on song, he has the ability to take any bowling attack apart with his wide array of strokes on either side of the wicket.
Rocks’ success all-round performance by their bowling unit has really been the defining story of their campaign; something which was truly evident during their win against the Bay Giants when each of their bowlers in Bjorn Fortuin, Hardus Viljoen, Ferisco Adams, Isuru Udana, Tabraiz Shamsi shared ten wickets among them equally. Tabraiz Shamsi has been pick op the bowlers, he picked 10 wickets so far in the ongoing tournament. Key Players: Faf du Plessis, James Vince, Tabraiz Shamsi

Dane Vilas and co would be very content following the consecutive triumph in the last two games. In the previous game, Durban chased the target clinically and registered a second win. Earlier, the bowling unit did a great job to restrict the Bay Giants to a par score after leaking 66 runs in the powerplay. In reply, the Heat lost Marshall cheaply, but that didn't hamper their confidence. They had three solid partnerships - 51, 45 and 44 to be precise for the second, third and fourth wickets respectively. Miller played sensibly to score a half-century and ensured that he remained unbeaten till the end. Bopara applied the finishing touch and Durban ended up hunting down the total with seven balls to spare.
On the batting front, WJ Lubbe and DA Miller have been the standout batsman for Heat thus far this season. WJ Lubbe with 163 runs from the last 5 games is currently the leading scorer for Heats in the MSL2019. David Miller also supported equally well in batting, he scored 144 runs at a staggering average of 72 in the last 4 innings. Batting duo would be keen to carry on the good form and win more matches for the side.
The Durban Heat unit also has experienced T20 campaigners such as Alex Hales, Ravi Bopara in their ranks. They would be looking to score big runs in the crucial games for the side.
Durban’s bowling attack will be led by the duo of Kyle Abbott and Keshav Maharaj. Overall, the Durban bowlers look very ordinary thus far in the ongoing MSL season, as they failed to pick up wickets on a regular interval and also to went for many. Andile Phehlukwayo with just 6 wickets has been the leading wicket-taker for Heat, and it truly justifies their failure so far this season. Bowling unit needs to be at their best against the table topper Paarl Rocks. Key Player - David Miller, Alex Hales, Andile Phehlukwayo
