Perth Scorchers have 3 BBL trophies and appeared in BBL finals five times. However, they already faced two defeats in three games this season, and linger at the seventh place, just above Melbourne Renegades against which their only win was registered on Saturday. Sydney Sixers too have just 1 win in 3 games, but due to a better run-rate, they are above Hurricanes, Scorchers, and Renegades.

After the batting disaster in the first game, the Scorchers batsmen gave the team a very good comeback against Renegades, thanks to the devastating innings from the skipper Mitchell Marsh (56 runs in just 22 balls, with 6 sixes and a four). The team’s total to 196 proved slightly more than sufficient to keep Renegades out of the race by 11 runs. Against Adelaide Strikers too, Perth batsmen, especially the openers, did a fantastic job to cross 180 in 18 overs, but the rain-affected match went against Scorchers as they had to reach the target of 199 with 2 overs fewer, as per D/L method. Apart from Jhye Richardson (4 overs 29 for 2), all their bowlers conceded more than 9 per over. Half-centuries from both the openers Inglis (27 balls 50) and Livingstone (26 balls 69) – powered the team to 124 in 8.4 overs before Livingstone departed and thereafter lack of partnership cost them the game.
Going ahead, Scorchers’ bowling unit must exhibit some discipline to concede fewer runs as the batting department seem to have fixed their mistakes after the first game. In the last 10 games, Cameron Bancroft (265 runs, strike rate 135.89) is the top- scorer for the team. Among the bowlers, Chris Jordan (4 wickets in previous 3 games), Jhye Richardson and Fawad Ahmed are the vital contributors with the ball.
Key Players - Cameron Bancroft, Mitchell Marsh, Liam Livingstone
AJ Turner, Matthew Kelly, Cameron Green, Jhye Richardson, Fawad Ahmed, Ashton Agar, Liam Livingstone, Chris Jordan, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh, CT Bancroft
Sydney Sixers’ graph is going downwards after winning the first game against Perth Scorchers at Sydney Cricket Ground. Tom Curran’s 3 for 22, Manenti’s 2 for 21 and Josh Philippe’s 81 off 44 had led the side to their first win of the tournament. However, against Hobart Hurricanes they failed to chase a mediocre total of 130, as none of their batsmen crossed 25 facing magical bowling from Qasi Ahmad and tight spells from Faulkner and Meredith. Sixers bowlers, however, did well earlier to restrict the Hurricanes under 130. Dwarshuis, Manenti, and Curran took 2 wickets each while Abbott topped with 3 wickets for 20 runs. They have seen failures in bowling as well as batting departments, and the team management must be focusing on putting up a game plan, hoping the players would be more clinical next time.
Steve O'Keefe’s failing fitness test in the third game against Brisbane Heat proved disastrous for the Sixers, as Heat left the target of 210 for them. Abbott and Manenti though took 2 wickets each, but none of the bowlers could contain the free flow of runs, especially against Chris Lynn who smashed 94 off just 35 balls. Most of the bowlers conceded 9 or more runs per over, while the batsmen were under pressure right from the powerplay overs. Other than James Vince (27 balls 39), none of the batsmen applied themselves and in the end, Sixers faced the defeat by 48 runs. Hopefully, O'Keefe would recover in time and return in the next game.
In the last 10 games, James Vince (311 runs) and Philippe (308 runs) are the top-scorers for Sydney Sixers, while Sean Abbott (17 wickets) and Tom Curran (14 wickets) oversee the bowling.
Key Players - Josh Philippe, Sean Abbott, James Vince
Hayden Kerr, B Dwarshuis, Jackson Bird, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Tom Curran, James Vince, Josh Philippe, Daniel Hughes, Lloyd Pope, Sean Abbott

The venue for the match is Perth Stadium, Perth. The only T20 international game played here was between Australia and Pakistan, in November, in which Australia defeated Pakistan by chasing down an easy total of 107 in 11.5 overs. In this tournament, Perth Scorchers played a match here las week, the Scorchers defeated Melbourne Renegades by 11 runs in a high scoring match. The pitch is very good for batting and hence it is recommended to bat first.
Perth Scorchers have always been difficult opponents for Sydney Sixers. Though Sixers got the success in their earlier clash in this tournament, they failed to perform well with the bat and the ball in the subsequent games. Perth Scorchers, on the other hand, played well in their last two games, out of which they won a game, and lost a rain-affected game by a small margin. Pert Scorchers look in a better shape considering their solid batting unit. Playing at Perth may give certain advantage to Scorchers and statistics are also not in favour of Sydney Sixers when they play against Scorchers outside Sydney.
Thus, we predict that Perth Scorchers will defeat Sydney Sixers.
