In match 10th of the IPL 2021, Virat Kohli’s Royal challengers Bangalore will take on Eoin Morgan Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB won both their earlier games played this season and they looked very solid in all aspects of the game. Especially, Kohli and co would be very elated following their team performance against SRH in the last game where they pulled off a victory from a difficult situation. RCB’s bowlers picked 7 wickets for just 29 runs in death overs and made things difficult for the opponent, such wins are very crucial and provide great confidence to players.
On the other hand, after a splendid performance in the first game of the season, KKR lost a second match against MI which was suppose to be an easy win for KKR. KKR unit should be very disappointed were failed to chase 31 from 30 run with 6 wickets in hand. They got very defensive and panic, and then MI’s bowlers took the control of the game. Head to head, records between these two sides stands at 15-12 are in favour of KKR. But, KKR needs to play their A-game against in-form RCB to get the second win of the season and get back the momentum.

RCB franchise led by Virat Kohli would be very content following their team performance in the first two games of the ongoing season. In comparison to last year, both their batting and bowling looks very sorted and overall they got depth in bowling and batting. At the top, Virat Kohli and D Paddikal have done a decent job for RCB’s and the opening duo would be eying for a great partnership against KKR. Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in cricket and hence onus will be on him to play another impact inning at the top. Notably, Kohli scored 725 runs from 24 games against KKR. In the middle order, the inclusion of Glen Maxwell in the RCB squad proved a vital decision and resolved batting woes from last year.
The Aussies power-hitter is back in the grove after a match-winning fifty against SRH in the last game. Maxwell scored 41 balls 59 in the low scoring game versus SRH and he was awarded man of the match for his remarkable inning. He played very responsibly and made sure the team gets to a good total; a great sign for the RCB’s. RCB also got great firepower in the lower order, with the likes of ABD Villers, D Christian and W Sunder into their rank. De Villiers is a very destructive batsman and capable of winning the match on his own, he got a strike rate of 150+ with a 300+ run against KKR.
On the bowling front, a pace attack comprising of M Siraj, K Jamieson and H Patel did a fabulous job in earlier games. Particularly, H Patel has shown great skills in death overs and didn’t allow the opposition to score freely. H Patel is the leading wicket-taker with 7 wickets from 2 games including 5 wickets haul against MI. RCB’s premium spinner Y Chahal looked ordinary in the previous two games but he is a world-class spinner and expects to bagged key wickets.

Two times champion team, Kolkata Knight Riders after an ideal start to the IPL 2021 campaign, lost the momentum in the second game. Eoin Morgan and co. would look to rectify their mistakes and come back stronger against in-form RCB. At the top, Nitish Rana is in great form and scored a consecutive century in the last two games; scored 137 from earlier two games at a strike rate of 133. He will be hoping to carry on the good form and play another impact match-winning inning. His opening partner S Gill possesses great techniques and can score plenty of run with proper cricketing shots. He will be aiming to convert the initial start to a big one. At three, Rahul Tripathi has done a decent job so far in the limited opportunity he got, he plays very fearless cricket and can take on the spinners in the middle overs.
The poor form of the middle order batsmen comprising E Morgan, D Karthik and A Russell is the area of concern for KKR. The batting trio is the key players for KKR and their good batting form is very important for KKR to go long way in the tournament. A Russell likes to play against RCB as he scored 308 runs from 9 games at a staggering strike rate of 224. He will be hoping to score big and get back in form. On the contrary, A Russell doesn’t look like he lost any touch, picked 6 wickets which include outstanding 5 wickets for 15 runs spell against MI. Other pacers, Pat Cummins and P Krishna also looked good and managed to pick wickets. V Chakravarthy is the KKR’s leading spinner and the track at Chennai is likely to assist him.

The weather forecast in Chennai on Sunday is mostly sunny and very warm. It is an afternoon game so expected to be very humid. As we saw in the first game at this venue, the track at Chennai stadium tends to be good for both batting and bowling. However, the spinners are likely to get more help from the track than the pacers. 246 is the highest first inning score at this venue and 160 is the average first inning score.
The match will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
From the earlier 4 games of the ongoing season played at this venue, three times the team were managed to defend the score and on one occasion team chased the score easily. The records are in favour of batting first team and hence both the team will look to bat first after winning the toss and put a good total on board.
RCB and KKR both teams got great T20 batsmen in their rank hence we expect it to be another thrilling game of cricket. However, RCB’s bowling attack looks more threatening and they got variety in their bowling when compared with KKR. Besides, RCB won their last three games played against KKR and currently, momentum is also with Kohli and co. Hence, RCB is likely to carry on the good form and register the third win of the season.
We predict Royal Challengers Bangalore will win this match.
