For this opening fixture, the team management will be looking to play their full-strength side. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and David Miller will leave for Indian Premier League after conclusion of 2nd ODI.
The home side will be concerned over the lack of runs from wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock. Since the start of the year, Quinton hasn’t been able to put in big scores for the side. Left-hander will need to spend time at the crease to score big runs in this fixture.
Besides Quinton de Kock, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klaasen will need to put in crucial scores for South Africa to post a competitive score in their full quota of overs.
In the bowling department, the side will be relying heavily on the pace trio of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje to make crucial breakthroughs. Spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and medium-pacer Andile Phehlukwayo are other two bowling options for South Africa.

This will be Babar Azam’s first overseas assignment as limited-overs captain of Pakistan cricket team. The visitors will need to make adequate preparations to do well in this ODI series.
The visitors will be banking on opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq, who showed decent in the recently postponed PSL.
The team will also going to be heavily depending on captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan and Haider Ali to bring that stability in the middle-order.
The team is expected to go in with three pacers and one spinner, where Hasan Ali and left-armer Shaheen Shah Afridi will take the new-ball in this game.
