The Eliminator in CPL 2019 is between teams having contrasting momentums attributed mainly due to match no. 14 between the same teams, Trinbago Knight Riders and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
The 2018 champions Knight Riders started their 2019 season positively with 4 wins from 4 games before the super over loss to St Kitts in the tied match no.14. From that game, the graph took a turn for both teams as TKR lost 5 out of their next six matches and St Kitts won 4 out of the next 5 games.
TKR needed just a win to finish in the top 2, and thereby getting a chance to get another crack in the eliminators, failed miserably against the table-toppers Warriors in the last league game. Shuffled batting order and Narine’s continued absence did not help TKR as they managed to set a target of 144, courtesy of Munro’s 43 and skipper Pollard’s 36 which was never going to be enough for the Riders. TKR traveled the same distance in their previous campaign in 2018 playing Qualifier 1, Eliminator and knocking out Warriors in the finals to claim the title.
STKNP secured their 2019 CPL playoff spot in dramatic style as Dominic Drakes bowled Harry Gurney with the final ball of the night to seal a thrilling 1-run victory over Tridents, skipper Brathwaite claimed 3 wickets ending their 2019 league stage with 10 points. After losing their opening encounter of 2019 to TKR by 11 runs, SKTNP suffered three more loses before Brathwaite turned tides with a super over brilliance with both bat and ball.

SKTNP will be happy with their performance in the league stage and will be worried about the fact that their last match was played 1 week before. Despite Hafeez promotion to open in their last league game, Thomas and Lewis will open in the Eliminator. Lewis so far has 256 from the 9 innings played. Hafeez's average show with the bat will be a worry, but SKTNP will be happy with the way his offices have panned out. Fabian Allen, with his batting position, has managed 212 and is their second-highest run-getter. The pace is their main weapon and they have Cottrell, Drakes, Emrit, Alzarri, and Brathwaite as their bowling core.
Key Players:
Carlos Brathwaite: The Skipper is not a consistent performer, but he is a big match player. His two performances have resulted in 2 wins for his team. His 64 off 30 in the innings added with 16 runs in the super over against the TKR will be fresh in his memory.
Evin Lewis: After his quickfire 45 which pushed them to tie the target of 216 runs scored by TKR, he has a string of low scores. He will be wary that a rollicking start from him will help his team in playing one more match this season.
Pollard is clearly feeling the absence of their star player Sunil Narine. 43 off 40 is not Munro’s role and the team management will look to send him to accompany Simmons to give them a rapid start in the powerplay. Darren Bravo has been consistent so far and he managed 6 sixes in his 58 against Warriors. The encouraging sign for them is the form of their captain, Pollard. Bowling unit has not performed as a whole, and it is their main drawback and they will be hoping Narine gets himself fit to have their 2019 hopes alive.
Key Players:
Lendl Simmons: 378 runs from 9 innings so far for this seasoned T20 player. He has scores of 30 and 60 in his last two matches. He scored 90 against this same opponent in their second league game.
Kieron Pollard: 36 from 27, 71 from 38 are his recent scores and when Pollard is in that sort of a mood he is hard to contain. He has been consistent throughout this season and has scored 300 from 9 innings.

There is no rain expected during match time, however, there will be storms during the day plus the Qualifier 1 game will be played right before this Eliminator.
The pitch has got a lot to offer for the spinners and lack of quality spinners in both the camp will nullify things. An average score of 147, but this being a day match removes the additional factors like due making it an even contest.
Teams chasing have won 3 matches so far in the 5 matches. Knock out games always add a bit of pressure and both teams will be wary of that and will look to put runs on board rather than chasing.
The 3-time champions TKR should believe in them and they are just 1 win away from gaining momentum in this knock out stage. Pollard has an excellent record in the knock out stages and he has shown us more often in MI colors. A lot will depend on how the big boys from both teams perform in this Eleminator. SKTNP will hope their hiatus doesn’t reflect in the performance.
Trinbago Knight Riders will win the match and get a shot at qualifying for the Finals!
