CRICBETTINGBUZZ PREDICTION: Belagavi Panthers to win the match!

Enough of rain playing in the Chinnaswamy more than the players did, the business end of the tournament moves to the Sikantadatta Narasimhha Raja Wadiyar Ground in Mysore. And what we have in store for match number 16 in KPL? It is between the leaders of the table, Shivamogga Lions and the rejuvenated Belagavi Panthers.
The first century in a losing cause in the KPL history did not dent the confidence of Manish Pandey as he is single-handedly carrying the hopes of Belagavi Panthers. Chasing a target of 111 against the Bengaluru Blasters, Samarth continued his poor run by getting out cheaply for 5 runs. In comes Manish Pandey and in his first 11 balls he scored 16 runs. The power play is done, and just when it looked like Panthers are going to stroll this target, Pandey shifted gears and in just 12 overs Panthers chased down this target. Pandey finished the innings with a six and ended with a score of 58 off 30 deliveries. Earlier, when Panthers opted to bowl Bhatkal struck early in the powerplay.
Panther's spinners Hedge and Bhatkal never let the Blasters from their control as they kept on building the pressure. When Blasters decided to cut loose, Farooqui and Darshan picked 2 wickets apiece in the death overs to restrict them to 110. Meanwhile, it was mayhem for Lions as they managed to play a game in Bangalore weather but were caught in a cyclone named Krishnappa Gowtham. This Cyclone created a huge dent to their confidence as their bowlers did not find any place to hide. First 200 plus score was made in KPL 2019 in just 17 overs as Gowtham thrashed the hapless bowling of lions to all corners. Chase did not start well for Lions as Gowtham and Prasidh combo sent Lions openers back quickly inside the powerplay. Deshpande and Ballal then put on a 96-run stand before the cyclone returned to claim 7 victims in space of 9 balls. The impact was heavy as Gowtham finished with 134 off 56 balls and 8/15 which meant that Lions lost by a margin of 70 runs.

T20 is a cruel game, it can take a lot away from you in one game. They were the table toppers and were high on confidence and this match would have created a huge hole in that. Suddenly all their bowlers were taken for a ride and none their economy rate was not even below 10. The skipper Mithun will hope his team regroups after that Gowtham nightmare. Ballal and Deshpande managed to score 41 and 45 runs respectively in this havoc.
Key Players:
Nihal Ullal: Barring the previous game the Wicketkeeper-batsman has been consistent for the Lions with an aggregate of 153 runs with the highest score of 88 runs.
Pradeep T: The right-arm fast bowler has taken wickets in heap with spells of 3/22 and 3/40. He would love to repeat one such performance particularly with the wicket of the opposition skipper.

Having chased the target in 12 overs they have given themselves a good chance of qualifying for the playoffs. Darshan MB in his first outing for Panthers impressed everyone with figures of 3/27. It was their death bowling which let them down in the game against the Tigers and the Pace department executed their plans well this time by conceding just 19 runs in the last 4 overs and picking up 5 wickets. Their spinners Hedge, Bhatkal, and Negi have been consistent throughout this tournament. It is time for their batting line up to support their skipper Manish Pandey to march forward.
Key Players:
Manish Pandey: The skipper is full of confidence and he used his spinners brilliantly in the middle overs and built them a difficult wall to breach with his field placements. It is his captaincy combined with his batting, which is going to see his team through.
Dikshanshu Negi: The decision to move him at the top looked good as he steadied things with his skipper with a score of 19. But it is his leg-breaks which can turn things for his team
The rain did not have much say in the 16 matches held at Mysore in 2018 Karnataka Premier League. None of the matches got washed out last year during the same period. The average runs scored last year was 145. We can expect full quota of 40 overs this time also.
With the chase percentage high in the Sikantadatta Narasimhha Raja Wadiyar Ground, Team winning the Toss would love to chase targets rather than setting them.
This format revolves mostly around the momentum and the Panthers will look to make full use of it. Panther's spinners would love to follow the patterns set by Gowtham and spin a web again in the Lion’s Den. Manish Pandey will hope that his dream run with batting continues and with it the dream of qualifying.
