In the 44th fixture of 2019 World Cup, relentless India will take on Sri Lanka cricket team on Saturday. India has been the in-form team in this edition of the World Cup. In the previous game, Men in Blue defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs and qualified to the semifinals. In the batting, Rohit Sharma, continued his dream run in 2019 World Cup with a record-equaling the fourth century. As of 4th July, he is the top scorer in the ongoing tournament with 544 runs. Jasprit Bumrah once again displayed a brilliant death bowling skills; he picked two crucial wickets in the 48th over of the match to seal India’s victory. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the top two ODI ranked batsmen leading the team from the front in the ongoing tournament. However, the over-reliance on the top-order has haunted the team a couple of times in the past games. Despite the solid foundation laid by opener – Rohit and K L Rahul, men in blue failed in a final flourish, managed only 63 runs in the last 10 overs against Bangladesh. So, skipper Virat Kohli and co will be looking to fine-tune the few key areas in batting against Sri Lanka before moving into the knockout.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka, who have already knocked out of the tournament, will be playing for pride in their last game of the tournament. In the previous fixture against Windies, Sri Lankan team played outstandingly to pull off a hard-fought 23-run win. Kusal Perera and Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne gave a strong start for the Lankans and added 93 runs for the first wicket. The young Avishka Fernando took over the show with his technical brilliance and registered his first ODI hundred. He was awarded man of the match for his excellent knock of 104. In his just 3 games of the tournament, he scored 183 runs. Absolutely, Sri Lanka will be hoping for another great knock from this young-talent against India. In the bowling, veteran Lasith Malinga was excellent to defend the score; he picked three key Windies wickets. Dimuth Karunaratne and co will be looking to put solid show versus India to end their 2019 world cup campaign on high.

Dimuth Karunaratne and co. back in the winning ways against Windies and would be hoping for another clinical performance against formidable Indian side. The opener, Kushal Perera has been in excellent touch in the tournament, he is the top scorer for Lanka with 255 runs from 6 games. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne also played some good knock early in the tournament but failed to carry on the momentum at a later stage. He needs to lead the team from the front and provide a solid foundation up-front in the powerplay. Once again the onus will be on in-form Avishka Fernando to deliver the big knock in the last game.
Kushal Mendis, Sri Lanka’s principal player in recent times has not been at his best in the tournament. He is having a very poor world cup so far, scored only 140 runs from 6 games. He would be eying for the big knock in the last game of the event.
Bowling wise, the side will be reliant on the likes of Lasith Malinga and Isuru Udana to deliver breakthroughs with new-ball. Given Sri Lanka's thin resources, Malinga will have to bring all his experience to the fore and show the way. He is in excellent form in the tournament, bagged 12 wickets from 6 games. Nuwan Pradeep/ Suranga Lakmal will be the third seamer for this game. Pacers need to strike early in the powerplay to put pressure on India.

India’s opener Rohit Sharma - 544 runs and Virat Kohli - 408 runs from five games are in top form, the side looks strong. Batting duo is currently the biggest threat for any opponent. K L Rahul has also played brilliant knock of 77 in the last match and would be keen to carry on his form. Skipper Virat Kohli has an average of 59 against Sri Lanka, scored 2186 runs from 45 innings.
All-rounder, Hardik Pandya showed excellent skills with both bat and ball in the tournament – he scored 187 runs from 7 games and picked eight wickets. Based on the recent form we predict India is an absolute favorite to win this match. India got the top-ranked ICC batsman and bowler in the side. On the other hand, the Sri Lankan team is relying heavily on their top player to perform and they lack consistency. Sri Lankan team need to pull their socks up to battle against the ICC number one ODI side.
