Sydney Thunder registered a convincing win in the last game against the Hobart Hurricanes after suffering three consecutive losses. As they go into the next game at home against the Melbourne Renegades they would start as a confident unit.
Renegades on their part come into this game having suffered another crushing loss to the Adelaide Strikers and currently look completely out of form. The season has so far been a disastrous one for the Renegades. They have lost all the nine games they have played so far and had also lost against Thunder in their home game earlier in the season.
The side is depleted with their regular skipper busy with national duty. They are low on confidence and shall need to come up with an exceptional performance to win against the Thunder in the next game.

Callum Ferguson would be happy that his side brought their three-game losing spree to an end in the last game against the Hobart Hurricanes. They won the game convincingly by 4 wickets. Ferguson would want the side to carry the momentum into their home game and exploit the bad form that Renegades find themselves in at the moment.
The opening combination of Alex Hales and Usman Khawaja look in good form after their good start in the last game. This is a big plus for the side. Ferguson, Alex Ross and Matthew Gilkes have had their good hits this season which makes the batting look strong. The side would expect a good show from Chris Morris and Daniel Sams down the order as they are powerful hitters of the ball. Their bowling attack has gone for runs in the last few games and the side would expect a better show in this one. Daniel Sams has bowled well and so has Chris Morris. Liam Bowe also did well in the last game. But the side would hope for a better show from the likes of Arjun Nair, Brendan Doggett and Chris Tremain who have gone for runs in previous games.
Alex Hales, Callum Ferguson, Daniel Sams, Nathan John McAndrew, Liam Bowe, Brendan Doggett, Chris Morris, Usman Khawaja, Alex Ross, Jonathan Cook, Jay Lenton
It has been a season where nothing has worked for the Renegades. With their regular skipper Aaron Finch on national duty it is a big challenge for Daniel Christian to lead the side amidst this poor run of form. They went down against the Adelaide Strikers in the last game by 63 runs and will have to gain their confidence back to win this game against the Thunder. Shaun Marsh and Marcus Harris have to set up a good start at the top going into this game. Both these players have had good scores earlier in the season. Beau Webster did well in the last game but the rest of the batting line-up is going through a rough patch.
The likes of Sam Harper, Mohammad Nabi, Tom Cooper and the skipper Christian will have to make their contributions with the bat for the side to win. Kane Richardson their best bowler is on national duty and this is a big loss for the side. Samit Patel and Mohammad Nabi will need to start well with the new ball. Cameron Boyce did well in the last game but the side will need better show from Jake Wildermuth, Christian and Joe Mennie who have failed to impress so far in the season.
Sam Harper, JD Wildermuth, Shaun Marsh, SR Patel, Mohammad Nabi, Andrew Fekete, Cameron Boyce, Marcus Harris, BJ Webster, DT Christian, Will Sutherland
The conditions would be perfect over Canberra on January 15. The track isn’t the best one to bat on as the two paced nature of the surface creates doubts in the minds of the batsmen. Fast bowlers will get early assistance from the surface. A score of 160 runs on this track would be a good one to defend.
Manuka Oval, Canberra is a small ground and shorter boundaries around the square allow batsmen to free their arms. But the surface is two paced and hence batsmen can’t play on the up. It is one of those surfaces in Australia where fast bowlers as well as spinners both enjoy bowling thanks to the assistance they get from the surface.
This is a tricky pitch to bat on and over the years we have seen batsmen struggle on this surface. In the recent games played at this venue most captains have preferred to bowl here. The side that wins the toss is more likely to opt for bowling first on this surface.
Hosts Sydney Thunder is coming into this game on the back of an impressive win. This has helped the side recover from the rough patch they had hit earlier in the season. Going into this game they would be looking to exploit the bad form that Melbourne Renegades are in. The Renegades have failed to collectively do well in all their games and this would make the Sydney Thunder favorite to win in the game.
