Two of the stronger sides in the ongoing edition of BBL- Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Stars would indulge in the second clash of the season.
The first encounter was won by the Stars by a margin of 44-runs with openers Marcus Stoinis (147*) and Hilton Cartwright (59) scoring the bulk of runs and putting a scoreline of 210 in the quota of 20 overs. Stars have been pretty phenomenal in BBL 2019-20 and banking on the stupendous form of Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Nathan Coulter-Nile, the table-toppers will surely look to deploy whatever measures necessary in order to retain their spot in the points table.
Meanwhile, the Moises Henriques-led Sydney Sixers suffered a narrow defeat in the recent outing against Sydney Thunder and would be banked to bounce back in the game at SCG. The quartet of Daniel Hughes, Tom Curran, Josh Philippe, and James Vince have been the vital cogs in the concurrent season of BBL and will carry the onus of getting their side past the victory margins in the coming duel.

Sixers would be reliant on the opening duo of Josh Philippe (278 runs in 11 innings) and Daniel Hughes (231 runs in 11 innings) getting the team off to a good start in the powerplays. James Vince (195 runs in 10 innings) has been a key contributor to Sixers’ triumph and along with skipper Moises Henriques will look to accumulate the chunk of runs in the middle-overs.
Jordan Silk hasn’t fired this season and it is about time he performs to the potential. Moises Henriques has had a roller coaster ride with the bat in BBL 2019-20 and with Sixers engaging in a must-win game at SCG, one would want the skipper to come up with a match-winning exhibition.
Tom Curran (15 wickets in 11 innings) has been effective with his consistent line and lengths and with Ben Dwarshuis (10 wickets in 11 innings) have wreaked havoc in the powerplays. Spinners Steve OKeefe and Nathan Lyon hold enormous T20 experience under their belt and will aim to lure the batsmen into giving up their wickets.

Marcus Stoinis (523 runs in 11 innings) is currently topping the batting charts in BBL 2019-20. He holds a century and four half-centuries to his name and with his current form, he would be hoping to deliver a decent performance amidst the conditions of Sydney. Skipper Glenn Maxwell (341 runs in 10 innings) has been explosive in the matches competed so far and will be entrusted the task of scoring a ton of runs along with Nick Larkin and Seb Gotch.
In the bowling department, Sandeep Lamichhane (12 wickets in 10 innings) has grabbed the most number of wickets for the Stars in BBL 2019-20. His leg-breaks and googlies have turned the tide in the Stars’ favor on numerous occasions. Nic Maddinson (3/24) and Glenn Maxwell (1/20) came up with economical exhibitions in the recent match and will be backed to emulate similar figures at SCG. Nathan Coulter-Nile and Daniel Worrall have been stupendous with their pace variations and would be wishing to stick to the winning ways in the coming feud.

There will be cloud cover throughout with the temperature in the low 20s. Chances of rain are being depicted in the second half of the game and in case the DLS method comes into play, the team batting second will have an advantage with the revised target.
Batsmen should look to hit the ball out of the park from the very moment in such conditions. Although 150 is the average first innings total at this venue, amidst the cloudy conditions one could expect 160 as a par total.
Batsmen should look to hit the ball out of the park from the very moment in such conditions. Although 150 is the average first innings total at this venue, amidst the cloudy conditions one could expect 160 as a par total.
The toss winning team should look to bowl first on this occasion. The overcast conditions would offer great benefits to the pacers early on in getting the desired swing and seam.
Although it is going to be a high-octane battle as both the teams have the right amount of talent and experience, the result is likely to wind up in the Stars’ favor. The Men in Green have been on an unbeaten streak of eight consecutive matches and more so, they have enjoyed a dominance over the Sixers whilst playing at SCG, making them the stronger side in contention for the upcoming T20.
