In the second game of the BBL 2019-20, the Sydney Sixers would be up against the Perth Scorchers. It will be the first game of the season for both sides and we expect to see great action in the middle. The host's Sixers who did well last season will look to make the most out of their first home game and improve upon the poor record they have against the Scorchers. As for the Perth Scorchers who had a terrible season last year they would be looking to get going on a positive note in the tournament.
It will be a big challenge for the Sydney Sixers given their poor record against the Scorchers. They have lost the last four out of five games against the visitors. It is the season and the teams will come up with fresh plans. With the wicket expected to be a tricky one to bat on it remains to be seen how the two sides make use of their resources in what is expected to be a good game of cricket.

Moises Henriques would be confident about the prospects of his side going into this game. They had done well last season, and playing in front of their home crowd the skipper would be looking to make the best out of these conditions. Though the side would be missing out on the services of some of their best players they have a good side going into this game. The opening pair of Daniel Hughes and Josh Philippe had done well last season and they would be looking to provide the team with a good start.
James Vince and Moises Henriques are highly experienced in the middle order and would look to set the perfect platform for the likes of Jordan Silk and Jack Edwards who have good hitting abilities down the order for the side.
The side will miss Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon in the bowling attack but they have good strength in this department with Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis opening the bowling for the side. Steve O’Keefe and Tom Curran add variety to the attack and shall have to bowl well in the middle overs for the side to win this game.
Steve O'Keefe, Hayden Kerr, B Dwarshuis, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Tom Curran, James Vince, Josh Philippe, Daniel Hughes, Benjamin Manenti, Sean Abbott
It is a big task at hand for skipper Mitchell Marsh and he will have to put behind the setback of the last season. As the most successful team in the history of the league, the side has good experience of playing in crunch situations. Marsh would want his team to make the perfect start to the season, something they failed to do last year and which ultimately led to their downfall. In Josh Inglis and Liam Livingstone, they have a good pair at the top and this duo would be looking to set up a good partnership for the side.
The middle-order is blessed with quality players in the form of Cameron Bancroft and Ashton Turner. With Jhye Richardson and Marsh towards the end of the innings, the batting line-up looks very strong for the team. The bowling attack is pretty strong for the team with Cameron Green and Matthew Kelly opening the bowling for the side. They will also depend on Fawad Ahmed who comes into this season being in good form. With Ashton Agar in the squad, the side will be looking to make good use of the pitch conditions in Sydney.
AJ Turner, Matthew Kelly, Cameron Green, Jhye Richardson, Fawad Ahmed, Ashton Agar, Liam Livingstone, CT Bancroft, Chris Jordan, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Marsh
There would be heavy cloud cover over Sydney on December 18 and this would make it difficult for the batsmen as the new ball is expected to seam and swing. The spinners are likely to make good use of the conditions at this venue during the game. The side batting first should be happy with a score in excess of 160 runs
The Sydney Cricket Ground is one of the biggest venues in the world and batsmen have to work their way to make a big score. It isn’t the venue to hit big sixes but one were batsmen need to accumulate runs. Fast bowlers have done well at this venue and it is by far the best wicket in Australia for the spinners.
Teams have preferred to chase at the SCG as there haven’t been too many high scoring encounters. In the last season the sides batting second won five out of seven games chasing the score and hence we expect the side winning the toss to bowl first on this surface.
It is the first game of the season for both sides and hence a difficult one to predict. Both sides would be coming up with fresh plans and strategies. Sydney Sixers are playing at home and have good knowledge about the conditions and would be looking to take advantage of it.
Perth Scorchers are a well-balanced unit and would be looking to come out of the bad form they displayed last year. The Scorchers have a slightly better bowling attack and these conditions will make them as favorites to win this game.
