Sydney Sixers Women have not found their rhythm in the ongoing season of the WBBL. They started off well but have slipped badly in the last 10 days. After losing 4 matches in a row, Sydney Sixers are now 4th on the points table with 6 wins and 6 losses and a Net Run Rate of +0.006. They still have a very good chance of making it to the semis, but Melbourne Renegades Women are now breathing down their necks with an equal number of points. Moreover, they suffered heavy defeats in their last 2 games - by 8 wickets and by 52 runs - which would have certainly dented their confidence.
Adelaide Strikers Women, meanwhile, is having a terrific season. They are placed 2nd on the points table with 9 wins and 3 losses and a healthy Net Run Rate of +0.602. They are the one team who look likely to challenge the defending champions and table-toppers Brisbane Heat Women.
Adelaide Strikers have now won 5 games in a row and are flying with confidence. Even though they have a poor record against Sydney Sixers, on current form they are well placed to thump the opponents.

Sydney Sixers Women are coming off a thumping 8-wicket loss against Perth Scorchers Women. Their batting and bowling both have been inconsistent and dependent on individual performances rather than a collective effort. In the batting department, losing their captain and highest run-getter Ellyse Perry is a major blow. Perry, who had amassed 469 runs in 9 games, sustained a shoulder injury in the match against the Melbourne Renegades, is likely to miss the rest of the league stage.
Without their star performer, the Sixers have a gaping hole in the batting department. This will need to be filled by the likes of Erin Burns and Ashleigh Gardner, who both got fifties in the last game. Alyssa Healy (299 runs), the stand-in captain and opener, will also have to play a crucial role.
The bowling of Sydney Sixers Women is decent. South African seamer Marizanne Kapp (14 wickets) has been leading the pack. Off-spinner Ashleigh Gardner(10 wickets) has been the other standout star for the Sixers. Leg-spinner Dane van Niekerk (9 wickets) can have a crucial part in the match if the pitch is even a little slow. In the absence of Perry's star all-round abilities, however, the Sydney Sixers certainly look much weaker.

The Adelaide Strikers Women are on a roll. They have found ways to win and are on a victory spree. Opener Sophie Devine (593 runs) has been their biggest all-round star this season and is closing in on becoming the first batter to score 600 runs this season. She slammed a commanding 88 in the last game against Sydney Thunder Women and looks set to continue that form. Skipper Suzie Bates (296 runs) has been the second-highest run-getter for the team and has been a solid presence at the top.
The other two batters to watch out for in this game for Adelaide are Bridget Patterson (250 runs) and Tahlia McGrath (222 runs). The bowling performance of Adelaide Strikers has been excellent. And it has been one of the reasons why they are comfortably placed at the top of the table this season. Leg-spinner Amanda Wellington (16 wickets) produced her best figures of the season in the last game: 3-17 v Sydney Thunder.
Kiwi seamer Sophie Devine, with 15 wickets in her kitty, is the second-best bowler for Adelaide Strikers this season. Sarah Coyte and Megan Schutt have been good too; although they have been a tad expensive at times. With variety and form in both their batting and bowling units, Adelaide Strikers Women look a well-sorted and strong outfit.

The pitch at the Hurstville Oval, Sydney, is expected to be slow and low. In the last match here, only 215 runs were scored by both the teams combined. The ball should grip the surface and batting won't be as easy in the middle overs. A total of 130-plus by the team batting first might be a match-winning one. The weather here has been overcast for the last few days. However, we can expect some clouds and mostly sunny weather on the day of the match.
Not much is known about the Hurstville Oval in Sydney as no international match has been played here. The ground has been used for the first time this WBBL season and a general understanding of the pitch will still take a while. However, the seam bowlers and spinners should enjoy bowling here.
There's only been one match played at the Hurstville Oval, Sydney, this season. The team batting second won the low-scoring game. Given the situation of the points table, and the likely behaviour of the pitch, the team winning the toss will likely be looking to bowl and get a target.
With variety and form in both their batting and bowling units, Adelaide Strikers Women look a well-sorted and strong outfit. Even though they are the visiting side for the match against Sydney Sixers Women and even though they have lost all of their last 5 games against them, Adelaide Strikers still start as favorites for this game.
Things have changed for the team this season and Adelaide Strikers are in red hot form. Sydney Sixers Women, meanwhile, have slipped alarmingly and have been dented badly with big losses in their last few games. Furthermore, the loss of their captain and star player Ellyse Perry will hurt them and is a major disadvantage against a strong side like Adelaide Strikers. The two teams are meeting for the first time this season and will be clashing again the very next day at the same venue.
On current form and overall strength, Adelaide Strikers Women are much stronger than Sydney Sixers Women and they should be backed to win this contest.
