Trinbago Knight Riders won all three games they played so far. The team management and the TKR fans are excited ahead of their next game on Wednesday at Queen’s Park Oval, where they will meet Daren Sammy led St Lucia Zouks. To everyone’s surprise, SLZ too got their third consecutive victory in the tournament as they defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday. The only game they lost was against Jamaica Tallawahs. For TKR, Bravo, Pollard, and Munro have already got some runs, and Narine has shone with the bat and the ball. Zouks don’t have many star players, still, Scott, Chemar, Nabi, and Roston Chase are the reasons for their success so far.

For the side that won just 3 games in the whole season last year, St Lucia Zouks have astonished everyone with their performance so far. With 3 wins in 4 games, they are at the second place in the points table, behind TKR. Roston Chase’s 52 runs innings in the first game against Tallawahs proved a little less at the end without much support. But the Zouks were extremely lucky to seal the second game against the defending champions, thanks to the rain interruptions and the DLS method, as they had successfully chased the target of just 47 runs in 5 overs. Against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, 56-run partnership off just 30 balls between Andre Fletcher and Mark Deyal had set the side in a commanding position, while Mohammad Nabi’s late thrust took them to 172 for 6. Scott Kuggeleijn’s 4-for-33 and Chase’s 3 wickets rewarded the side with the 10-runs victory.
The next day, they again secured 10-runs victory as they played against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Chase’s second half-century in four games gave the bowlers a decent target of 145 to defend. Scott (3 wickets for 24 runs) led the bowling unit. He and Kesrick Williams (4 overs 32 for 2 wickets) set the match up towards the end. Chemar Holder too bowled well under the pressure.

Three in three, and aiming for the fourth. That’s how everybody’s looking at TKR right now ahead of their clash with the Zouks. Early in the tournament, Sunil Narine’s two consecutive 50’s rewarded the team with the initial two wins, as TKR defeated Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs chasing down modest targets.
On Sunday, TKR defeated the defending champions Barbados Tridents by 19 runs after batting first and putting up 185 runs on the board. After scoring 49 not out in the second game against Jamaica, Munro smashed 50 against Tridents in just 30 balls. After Munro’s departure, Darren Bravo (54 off 36) and Pollard (17 balls 41) together added 98 runs. It was not going easy for the Knight Riders bowlers initially, as they failed to remove the Tridents openers till the end of the 8th over. But, regular wickets thereafter brought them back in the game. Seales and Bravo together gave away 80 runs in their six over, while Ali Khan, Pierre, Seales, Narine, and Fawad Ahmed took 1-wicket each and kept the game in control.
