It has been a while Trinbago Knight Riders won a match in the tournament. After winning the first four matches, they lost a match to STKNP in the super-over, then a match against Zouks was washed-out. Also, their previous two outings against Barbados Tridents and GAW did not yield anything. In the previous encounter between TKR and BT at Bridgetown, BT defeated TKR by 63 runs. If TKR wins this match, they will cement second place, but for BT, it’s not a straightforward case to achieve and retain the second place. If BT wins here and the top-ranked GAW beats TKR later, BT can get the second place.

Trinbago Knight Riders enter this game after facing two consecutive losses at the hands of Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Thanks to their four consecutive wins in the first half of the tournament, they are still very well placed in the points table and playoffs qualification was never a challenging task for them. Guyana Amazon Warriors winning streak could not be cut by three-time CPL champions – TKR - in the previous game. After limiting GAW to 160 at the end of the 19th over, Chris Jordan’s final over proved to be disastrous as he conceded 25 runs; while the defeat margin was 19 runs. Chasing 186 runs, TKR's top-order gave a poor start. Darren Bravo played anchoring innings and gave TKR much needed stability, for Pollard to encash in the last 10 overs, and he almost did it. Pollard's sparkling innings of 71 runs in just 38 balls included 3 sixes and 8 fours. From 38 needed from the last two overs and Pollard at the crease, it looked feasible, but eventually, TKR couldn’t cover the gap.
Among bowlers, Ali Khan was the only bowler who conceded less than 6 per over, while Javon Searles was impressive with his 3 for 39. TKR and BT’s previous encounter at Bridgetown was forgettable, as JP Duminy’s dazzling all-round performance and Hayden Walsh’s 5-for-19 shattered TKR, as they lost the match by 63 runs. TKR bowled-out for 129 runs chasing GAW’s total of 192. Neesham (1 over 25 runs) and Ali Khan (3 overs 51 runs) were the most expensive bowlers, while none of the batsmen scored more than 30. Darren Bravo was the top-scorer with 28 runs.

CPL 2014 winner, and the runners-up of 2015 season, Barbados Tridents have made it to the playoffs after the gap of 3 years. In 9 games BT played this year, they won 4 and lost 5 matches. Apart from losing both the games to the top-ranked Guyana Amazon Warriors, they lost two games against Jamaica Tallawahs and one to STKNP. BT’s previous match was against St Lucia Zouks at Bridgetown, where Johnson Charles’s 47 off 36 helped the team to post a total of 141 runs batting first. Zouks bowled out to 117 in reply, thanks to Harry Gurney’s 3 for 17 and Hayden Walsh’s 4 for 26 as BT in their fourth win of the season.
BT almost defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots a game before that, as chasing the target of 150 runs, they needed just 2 runs in the last ball, but Harry Gurney got out on the last ball off Dominic Drakes. Gurney took 2 wickets for 23 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan (38 off 25) and Raymon Reifer (34 off 18) batted well as BT missed the bus by a whisker. BT already played a match against TKR at home, in which JP Duminy’s blistering 20-balls-65 had led BT to post 192 runs batting first and then Walsh scythed through TKR batting line up, as they defeated TKR by 63 runs, which is the third biggest win in terms of runs in CPL 2019.

In this tournament, 3 out of four matches played here are won by the team batting first. On the match day, intervals of clouds and sun with a shower or thunderstorm around is expected. The daytime temperature is going to reach 32 °c and the temperature is going to dip to 25 °c at night.
The venue for this match is Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, which is home ground for Trinbago Knight Riders.
Between 2009 and 2017, 6 T20Is are played here, out of which 3 are won by the teams batting first and 3 by the teams batting second. The highest total here is 159/6 by India while the lowest total batting first is 105/10 by Zimbabwe. Anything about 160 here is considered as a very good total. It is recommended to bat first after winning the toss.
As Guyana already cemented the first place of the points table, this match is more about who could take the second place and eventually take the path of the Qualifier. Both the teams would want to bypass the eliminator’s path so that their chances to reach the final increase. It is a close call; however, the statistics seem to favor Trinbago Knight Riders and on top of that, the venue is TKR’s home ground.
We predict that Trinbago Knight Riders will beat Barbados Tridents and avenge their previous loss at Bridgetown.
