MSL 2019 is coming to the end of the league stage and soon we will know who makes it to the knockouts. In a bid to strengthen their claim Tshwane Spartans will play against Jozi Stars in a home game at Centurion on the 5th of December.
Despite winning just three games out of the 8 played so far, Tshwane Spartans are sitting pretty at the third place in this season of MSL 2019 matches courtesy 6 points acquired from 3 no-result matches, two of them at home. They have a chance to win against hapless Jozi Stars and make a claim for the top spot.
Jozi Stars’ horrendous tournament continues. The last season finalists are sinking with every loss. They would not have considered 7 losses in a row even in their worst-case scenario before the start of the tournament. But this is where they are now. All they can do now is hope for some redemption in the remaining matches.

Tshwane Spartans will take on Jozi Stars at home on 5th December with an intention of strengthening their position in the top three and possibly making it to the top spot as well. If they manage 2 wins in the last two league matches, they are certainly in the race for the top spot. Tshwane Spartans have 19 points with just three wins in 8 matches. Though they have lost only a couple of games. Looking at Durban Heat’s performance this year, the Spartans would run a couple of no-result matches against them.
Especially the second match when they had Durban Heat 21 for 3 chasing 142 in a fifteen over match. In that respect, they also had a lucky escape in a no result match against the Giants where the Spartans were reduced to 33 for 4 before the rain interrupted.
A couple of 8 wicket wins against Paarl Rocks and a win against Jozi Stars in the previous encounter by 20 runs have been convincing victories for the Spartans. De Villiers with 247 runs at a strike rate of 153 is in the top 5 run-getters of the tournament. Morne Morkel, with 10 wickets at a strike rate of 11.8 and an economy of just 6, is in the top 5 bowlers of the tournament. Key Players: AB de Villiers, Morne Morkel, Lungi Ngidi

Jozi Stars will look back at this season with absurdity wondering how it went this wrong for them. Add to it the fact that two of their batters - Reeza Hendricks and Temba Bavuma - are in the top 5 run getters where no other team has two batsmen in the top 5, and the situation looks even more absurd.
The game of cricket is all about intent and some of the losses for Jozi Stars have been such that they failed to show any intent. Take the match against Paarl Rocks where they managed 129 at the loss of just 3 wickets batting first. Complete waste of the batting lineup.
Similarly, against the Giants where they managed just 143 chasing a target of 168 and had 5 wickets in hand by the end of 20th over. The Stars tried to correct that in their last two league games against the Spartans and Rocks but they still failed to win any of those matches. The losing momentum is making them make mistakes at crucial junctures. It will be interesting to see if captain Faf du Plessis manages to regroup the unit have them end this season on a high. Key Players: Reeza Hendricks, Temba Bavuma, Tabraiz Shamsi
Batsmen | R | B | 4s | 6s | SR |

There have been a couple of washouts at this venue so far in this season. On Thursday as well shower and t-storm are predicted with 64% precipitation. The day time temperature will be around 15°c and at night it would be around 12°c.
The match is scheduled to be played at SuperSport Park, Centurion. It's a very good surface for batting. 241 is the highest score made here in international T20s whereas the average score batting first is around 170.
In the Last MSL season out of the 5 matches, the team batting second won 3 while the team batting first won 2 matches. Also, considering the possibility of D/L being applied in a rain reduced game, it will be good to bowl first after winning the toss.
Tshwane Spartans will do well to not underestimate Jozi Stars looking at their standings in the points table. Remember they were the finalists last year with a similar bunch of players and they have nothing to lose now. However, if we go by the current form and momentum, then the Spartans look way ahead of the Stars. The Spartans also have the top spot to fight for so expect them to come out blazing. Thus, we predict Tshwane Spartans to win this match.
Tshwane Spartans will win the match!
