With 3 wins, six points and one game to go, VB Kanchi Veerans are one of the probable teams to reach the playoffs. If they win this game, they can reach the playoffs. Right now, Kanchi Veerans have higher net-run-rate (0.575) than fourth-ranked Lyca Kovai Kings (NRR 0.255). Two points here would place them in the fourth position, ahead of LKK due to net-run-rate. Ruby Trichy Warriors have never reached to knock-out rounds in any of previous TNPL seasons, and despite outstanding performance from Murali Vijay (359 runs in four innings), their journey in this edition is again limited to the group-stage with just 1 win in 6 matches. Overall in TNPL, RTW won just 8 games in 27 matches.

The Veerans lost their opening match to Lyca Kovai Kings, but they got a massive win against Karaikudi Kaalai in the next match thanks to Sanjay Yadav (60 balls 95) and Rajagopal Sathish's all-round performance (unbeaten 14 balls 31 and took 4 for 17). R Silambarasan's 5 for 17 and Lokeshwar's half-century gave them a satisfactory win against the defending champions Madurai Panthers. Against TUTI Patriots, they got their third consecutive win for which credit goes to Aparajith's 76 off 48 balls, Siddharth's 50 off 38 balls and K Gowtham's 3 wickets. VKVB's winning streak snapped by Chepauk Super Gillies as their batsmen failed in the mammoth run-chase of 191.
In the previous game against Dindigul Dragons, their middle-order collapse cost them the game. They could post merely 133 on the board which was too less for the top-ranked team. Baba Aparajith is the top scorer with 179 runs at an average of 35.80, followed by R Sathish (161 runs in 6 matches). Gowtham and Rajagopal Sathish lead the bowling unit with 8 and 7 wickets respectively in this tournament.

The TNPL 2019 points table could have shown Ruby Trichy Warriors at a better place had they secured their couple of tied matches in the super-ver. They lost against currently-bottom-ranked Karaikudi Kaalai in the super-over after leveling KK's 171 runs in 20 overs. While Murali Vijay scored 81 runs against KK, in the next two games, Vijaya's absence affected the team's batting as they lost to Super Gillies and Kovai Kings, chasing 149 and 162 respectively. Vijay once again led the RTW's scoreboard against Madurai Panthers, making 78 to help the team reach 142. However, Madurai Panthers' batsmen took the game till super-over and snatched the match.
The star performer, Vijay's 99 off 62 against top-ranked Dindigul went in vain as the Dragons chased RTW's total of 178 in 19.1 overs. Finally, RTW pulled-off their first victory of TNPL 2019 against TUTI Patriots by 17 runs, thanks to Vijay's yet another principal knock of 101 off 57, which led them to the total of 177. However, it's too little and too late for RTW at the moment. With just one game to go and no chance of getting an entry in the playoffs, they would play without any pressure.
Murali Vijay is clearly the top scorer for RTW with 359 runs in 4 innings at the strike rate of 148.96, which includes 3 half-centuries and 1 century. Saravan Kumar is the leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets followed by L Vignesh with 7 wickets in 9 innings.

As Ruby Trichy Warriors enter this game, they have nothing to lose. With just one win in six games, they are already out of the tournament. On the other hand, VB Kanchi Veerans hold a very good chance to make it earn the fourth position and make their way to the playoffs if they win here. Head to head, VBKV has won more a number of matches against RTW. Also, in all the seasons of TNPL, VB Kanchi Veerans has a better winning percentage compared to RTW. The Warriors are heavily dependent on Murali Vijay, as no other RTW batsmen could gather 100 runs in the entire tournament.
