Host West Indies take on resurgent Sri Lanka in series decider

Host West Indies and Sri Lanka will face off in the second and final game of the Test series at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Monday.
In the previous, West Indies produced a classic fightback on the final day to secure a draw in the first Test. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite might go for changes for this final game of the Test series.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be pleased after producing a strong comeback on the final two days of the Test match. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne will be hoping that Sri Lanka can deliver another strong performance in this series finale.

The home side managed to secure a draw against Sri Lanka, courtesy Nkrumah Bonner’s maiden century. For this series decider, West Indies would be hoping that curator can produce lively surface for this game.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Kraigg Brathwaite, Jermaine Blackwood and Kyle Mayers to produce big runs for the side in this second Test.
Nkrumah Bonner played exceedingly well and notched up his maiden century for West Indies in the five-day format. In the first innings, Bonner chipped in with 31 runs off 63 balls.
Rookie batsman Kyle Mayers continued his excellent run of form and produced scores of 45 and 52 respectively. Left-hander would be looking to produce big innings for the side in this series decider.
Besides Bonner and Mayers, bowling all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall and Joshua De Silva put in crucial scores for the side in the first innings. Cornwall smashed 61 runs off 85 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes, whereas de Silva scored a well-composed 46 off 124 balls with the help of five boundaries.
In the bowling department, the side will be relying on the likes of Kemar Roach, Jason Holder and Rahkeem Cornwall. Pacer Kemar Roach had a decent outing with the ball and claimed six wickets in the first Test, whereas Jason Holder bagged a five-wicket haul to help West Indies dismiss Sri Lanka for just 169 runs.

The visitors put in a commendable performance after being dismissed for low score in the first innings of the opening Test played at Antigua.
Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne had a poor outing with the bat and perished for low scores in both the innings. His partner, Lahiru Thiramanne, had an excellent game with the bat at the top of the innings and produced scores of 70 and 76 respectively.
In the batting department, the young trio of Oshada Fernando, Pathum Nissanka and Niroshan Dickwella delivered excellent performances for Sri Lanka in the second innings.
Debutant Pathum Nissanka perished for low score in the first innings but made an impressive comeback in the second innings. He stitched crucial stands with Dhananjaya de Silva and Niroshan Dickwella to help Sri Lanka take the lead and post 476 runs in their second innings.
Nissanka notched up his maiden ton in debut game, whereas Niroshan Dickwella and Oshada Fernando perished after scoring 96 and 91 respectively.
In the bowling department, Suranga Lakmal will be given responsibility to create crucial breakthroughs with the new-ball.
Suranga Lakmal bowled well and grabbed a five-for in the first innings, whereas spinner Lasith Embuldeniya kept it tight in both the innings and claimed four wickets in the match.

With rain expected on the first day, the surface will be expected to help the pace bowlers. The batsmen will have to show discipline to score runs in this game.
At Antigua, Kemar Roach has an excellent record for West Indies in the five-day format. Spearhead has claimed 36 scalps in six matches at an average of 15.77.
With rain expected for the first two days, the side that wins the toss , would be looking to bowl first and makes use of the moisture underneath the surface.
Based on the performances delivered in the first Test, West Indies will fancy their chances of beating Sri Lanka. The home side led by Kraigg Brathwaite, would be hoping that premier players can come to the fore and deliver their best cricket in this series decider.
