After starting impressively in their opening game Jason Holder’s team seems to have dropped form suddenly. They have lost back to back games against Australia and England and find themselves in a difficult situation. The old problem of consistency is hurting the side and Holder would like to correct that in the next game and win it for the side.
Their batting is without a doubt strong and openers Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle have done well in bits and pieces. Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer make the middle order look good as all of them have got some runs in the tournament. With Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite in the finishers’ role the side have good firepower in its batting and shall enjoy batting in a small ground in the next game.
Their bowlers looked ineffective in the last game against England. Sheldon Cottrell did well and has been in good form this season. Jason Holder has also bowled tight lines but others have failed in the last two games. The team management would like to see the likes of Oshane Thomas and Shannon Gabriel. Carlos Brathwaite and Russell would also need to bowl well in the middle overs.

Their last game against Sri Lanka has washed away. Mashrafe Mortaza would have considered it as a lost opportunity given the kind of form Sri Lanka has been in. Having won just one out of their four games the side has to win this one to keep its hopes alive for the semi-final.
Batting for the side so far has been about two men Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. While other batsmen have got starts they haven’t converted them into big scores. Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar have to fire against the West Indies. The lower order has made contributions and the likes of Mohammad Mithun, Mosaddek Hossain and Mahmudullah need to score in the next game
Mehidy Hasan and Shakib have been the pick of the bowlers for the side so far in the tournament and they have troubled the batsmen. The side will want its fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Mortaza to do well as they haven’t done well so far in the tournament. Mohammad Saifuddin will also need to pick wickets in the middle for the side and check the flow of runs.
Mashrafe Mortaza, Mahmudullah, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Tamim Iqbal

Taunton’s weather prediction for June 17 is that of cold and overcast conditions which chances of light showers. Batting isn’t likely to be easy in these conditions with the ball moving. However, the pitch is a good one to bat with the ball coming on to the bat easily. The side batting first will need to score more than 300 runs to win here.
Venue
The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton is a ground where batsmen have enjoyed great success due to the smaller size of the park. They can easily free their arms at this venue and the bowlers have to be on the money to prevent batsmen from hitting those big shots at this venue.
The pitch wouldn’t be an easy one to bat on in the early overs where the ball is expected to move around given the cold and overcast conditions. The captains would also have the chances of rain in the match in their mind and would most likely prefer to bowl first in the match and take advantage of the conditions.
The fortune for both the sides has followed a similar trajectory in the tournament so far. West Indies started with a bang defeating Pakistan and since then have lost two games and seen one washed away. Similarly, Bangladesh started with a win against South Africa and have been defeated twice and seen a washout against Sri Lanka. The game is important for both the sides winning this one would keep their hopes of making into the semi-finals alive. West Indies have a better bowling attack for these conditions and would start as favorites.
